Going the distance for the 2023 Sure Guernsey Marathon

Sure Marathon

The next Sure Guernsey Marathon has been announced as Sunday 2 April 2023. Sure will once again be the headline sponsor of the 26.2 mile challenge, which takes runners past Guernsey’s most iconic landmarks and the island’s stunning coastline.

We’ve committed to supporting the event for three years as we extend our commitment to local sport. We’ll be providing wireless and 4G connectivity for the race’s official timing technology – which connects race organisers and marshals who are stationed around the course to ensure the smooth running of the event.

This technology is also crucial for the all-important race timing equipment too – with the digital start and finish clocks recording each runner’s time, which will be displayed online, and for the runners to rely on as the ‘race standard’ of accuracy.

Sure team members will again help to run the event by volunteering and helping with marshalling around the course.

The races will be split into three categories: the Sure Marathon, Mourant Relay Race (teams of two and five) and the 2K Fun Run for families.

The Marathon welcomes a variety of runners from elite and semi-professional athletes, competing for the top prizes, to friends and families running for a cause close to their hearts. Colleagues can also take part as a relay team and children can compete for the Schools Cup.

Guernsey is perfectly sized for a full marathon, with the course starting at Havelet at 9am and proceeding anti-clockwise around the island, following the main roads in the south before moving onto the coastal road on the west coast. The home stretch will bring runners from the Bridge, along the front and back into town.

The event is open to anyone around the world, so wherever you are from, we look forward to seeing you on the start line.
